JeepClub Events

JeepClub aim to cater for all levels from the  beginner or 'newbie' in a road standard Jeep to those of great experience with modified vehicles. For the needs of those new to Jeep ownership we can give professional advice, tuition and support. Our events are beginner friendly and even at our rare hardcore off-roading activities or competitions we try to always make provision for 'Newbies'. Although our expertise centres around late-model Jeep vehicles - Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Commander, we have members with models right back to the original WW2 MB and all are welcome to our events. In fact, you don't even need to own a Jeep to be a JeepClub Member. We promote a safe and responsible attitude to off-road driving and exert no pressure on our members to tackle obstacles they do not feel comfortable with. Help and advice is available at every step and the key to the concept is the informal atmosphere.  As a service to members we also list events from other clubs and organisations.  These may not be suitable for those in unmodified vehicles or with less experience - If anything listed here is not a JeepClub event please check with the organisers to see if it is suitable before booking.

1998 Archive

  • Club Launch - Thursday 6th August 1998
As everyone will probably remember, the weather so far this summer has been pretty terrible. When Les, Alex and Chris set the date for the first meet of the Jeep Club, we were a little concerned that it might get rained off. But hey, it's a Jeep thing - we can cope with it! Luckily, Thursday 6th August turned out to be one of the nicest evenings of the year, with bright sunshine and clear skies; we couldn't have arranged it better ourselves!
  • High Frontier - Sunday 27th September 1998
In true September style, it was raining. However, we were determined that everyone was going to have a fantastic day. As promised, we had arranged for the club to spend a day at High Frontier in Salisbury. We left the dealership at 10am in a convoy of 10 Jeeps bound for Salisbury, getting the usual odd looks from passers-by. We arrived at High Frontier at 11am and followed the tracks to the Corral; someone (who shall remain nameless... for the moment!) couldn't wait to have some fun and promptly span through 180ยบ even before we'd entered the centre!
  • The Ridgeway - Sunday 15th November 1998
We had originally planned a trip to the Battle Off-Road centre. However, due to the recent bad weather and this site's tendency to get extremely muddy, we decided to arrange an alternative event - a run across The Ridgeway.
  • Christmas Dinner - Sunday 6th December 1998
We thought we'd jump on the Christmas Dinner bandwagon but, of course, we thought we'd do things slightly differently. So we booked a table (that's a large table) at Dakota's, an American-themed restaurant in Fleet. Luckily, there isn't much photographic evidence of the evenings' events but here are a few that slipped through the net.
  • High Frontier - Saturday 12th December 1998
A final trip up to High Frontier to see Randall before the end of 1998.
