JeepClub Events

JeepClub aim to cater for all levels from the  beginner or 'newbie' in a road standard Jeep to those of great experience with modified vehicles. For the needs of those new to Jeep ownership we can give professional advice, tuition and support. Our events are beginner friendly and even at our rare hardcore off-roading activities or competitions we try to always make provision for 'Newbies'. Although our expertise centres around late-model Jeep vehicles - Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Commander, we have members with models right back to the original WW2 MB and all are welcome to our events. In fact, you don't even need to own a Jeep to be a JeepClub Member. We promote a safe and responsible attitude to off-road driving and exert no pressure on our members to tackle obstacles they do not feel comfortable with. Help and advice is available at every step and the key to the concept is the informal atmosphere.  As a service to members we also list events from other clubs and organisations.  These may not be suitable for those in unmodified vehicles or with less experience - If anything listed here is not a JeepClub event please check with the organisers to see if it is suitable before booking.

2002 Archive

  • Beltring Hop Farm - Saturday 23rd February 2002
The Hop Farm at Beltring is the well-known venue for July's War and Peace Show. It's a 20 acre site, with separate wooded areas alongside the River Medway. The site is entirely non-damaging and ideal for newbies, but with more challenging man-made obstacles in the centre for the more advanced. The site will be quite muddy this time of year, which only adds to the fun.
  • Skidpan Training - Saturday 16th March 2002
If you've fitted off-road biased tyres to your Jeep, you will probably have already learned the hard way the effect this has on your braking. To counteract this, we've organised a skid-pan training day at Thruxton, near Andover, to help you learn how to control your vehicle in a skid, particularly in wet conditions.
  • Tuff Terrains - Saturday 23rd March 2002
Tuff Terrains, located near Llandrindod Wells, Powys, is a JeepClub favourite. The site offers something for everyone, although a minimum requirement of off-road tyres and front and rear recovery points are considered mandatory for this time of year.
  • Whitecliff - Sunday 7th April 2002
Located within the beautiful surroundings of the Forest of Dean, Whitecliff is a disused quarry measuring some 40 acres. The site has a very technical nature, similar to the now-closed High Frontier site, and is used by the site owners for driver training.
  • Woodlands Training - Sunday 14th April 2002
We have arranged for the exclusive hire of the Woodlands site (near Brands Hatch, Kent) to provide a Club-only Training Day designed to cater for all skill levels.
  • Cleeve Hill - Saturday 27th April 2002
Cleeve Hill, near Cheltenham, as its name suggests, is set on a hillside with views of beautiful countryside from the top. Another of JeepClub's favourites, the site provides enough to challenge drivers of all skill levels and especially provides the perfect location to test your hill descent/ascent techniques.
  • Wild Tracks - Saturday 11th May 2002
Wild Tracks, near Newmarket, Suffolk, is recognised as one of the top off-road sites in the country. The site comprises several challenging trails which include a combination of mud, water, sand, hills, water troughs and a see-saw.
  • West Harptree - Saturday 25th May 2002
The West Harptree site is regularly used by both Jeep UK for their "Jeep Skills" days and the All Wheel Drive Club. It provides a wide range of off-road driving environments, with mud, stone-covered tracks, hills, etc - more than enough to keep the experienced off-roader happy whilst still providing plenty of challenging terrain for the less experienced.
  • Seven Sisters - Saturday 8th June 2002
The site at Seven Sisters, near Glyn Neath, is a 2,400 acre site offering a huge range of tracks, waterfalls, rock-crawling for the more adventurous and easy-going routes for the less experienced. The site has no facilities.
  • Minstead Manor - Saturday 22nd June 2002
Minstead Manor is a picturesque wooded site set in the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest. There are plenty of tracks around the site, but the bulk of the off-roading is to be had within the forest. Recent modifications to the site have resulted in new forest runs which are suitable for new and showroom-fresh vehicles, as well as making existing parts of the site more accessible. The site makes for a relaxing day's off-roading and an ideal place for a picnic with a difference, suitable for families and children.
  • Beaulieu 4x4 Show - Sunday 14th July 2002
JeepClub will have a large stand at this show, with 3 vehicles on display. Volunteer members have been enlisted to man our stand, and talk to fellow Jeepers. The show is expected to feature some of the most interesting 4x4s around, with trade stands and demonstrations to keep everyone entertained. Plus there will be the opportunity to drive off-road on the Beaulieu Safari Trail.
  • Clyro Court - Saturday 27th July 2002
Clyro Court, a 74-acre wooded hillside site, is just over the Welsh border, 3 miles west of Hay on Wye, overlooking the beautiful River Wye. The site is part of the Baskerville Hall Hotel estate - and, 'Yes', this is the same Mr Baskerville of Conan-Doyle hounds fame! The site is divided into two sections. The upper part is safe for newbies and shinies, and those new to off-roading. The lower part is better suited to the more adventurous and experienced off-roader.
  • Wessex Safari 4 - Sunday 28th July 2002
Our fourth Wessex Safari, this popular archaeological tour of the area around Stonehenge is a perfect introduction to green-laning for those new to off-road driving. The Safari is ideal for those with new and showroom-fresh vehicles.
  • Jeep Fest - Saturday 10th August 2002
A family festival run by Mark Askew of Jeep Promotions and sponsored by Jeep, Jeep Fest is the largest gathering of Jeeps in the UK. Taking place at the well-regarded Tong off-road site, near Bradford, the event offers a range of off-road trails for beginners and the more experienced drivers, competitions, fun and games, trade stalls and plenty for the kids.
  • Wessex Safari 5 - Sunday 25th August 2002
Back by popular demand, our fifth Wessex Safari is an archaeological tour of the area around Stonehenge and is a perfect introduction to green-laning, ideal for those with new and showroom-fresh vehicles.

  • Slab Common - Sunday 6th October 2002
Slab Common, near Bordon in Hampshire, is an MOD training ground similar to Broxhead Common. The larger of the two sites, Slab Common is used to teach tank recovery techniques. Like Broxhead, Slab is very sandy with plenty of water holes, hills and other man-made obstacles to test your abilities and your vehicle's.
  • Salisbury Plain Laning - Sunday 20th October 2002
Kevin and Jo Heath will be exploring the green lanes of the Salisbury Plain this Sunday (20 October 2002) and would like to invite up to five drivers that would like to join them. There is no charge for this event but voluntary donations to JeepClub's supported charity 'Whizz-Kidz' will be gratefully accepted.
  • Broxhead Common - Sunday 10th November 2002
Broxhead Common is a large, sandy, MOD training site, with enough variation and challenge to satisfy drivers of all skill levels. The site's sandy and open nature makes it an excellent site for newbies to try out their vehicles (and their driving abilities) in safety. However, exploring a little deeper reveals plenty of interesting tracks, gullies and muddy pools to challenge the more advanced off-roader.
