JeepClub Events

JeepClub aim to cater for all levels from the  beginner or 'newbie' in a road standard Jeep to those of great experience with modified vehicles. For the needs of those new to Jeep ownership we can give professional advice, tuition and support. Our events are beginner friendly and even at our rare hardcore off-roading activities or competitions we try to always make provision for 'Newbies'. Although our expertise centres around late-model Jeep vehicles - Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Commander, we have members with models right back to the original WW2 MB and all are welcome to our events. In fact, you don't even need to own a Jeep to be a JeepClub Member. We promote a safe and responsible attitude to off-road driving and exert no pressure on our members to tackle obstacles they do not feel comfortable with. Help and advice is available at every step and the key to the concept is the informal atmosphere.  As a service to members we also list events from other clubs and organisations.  These may not be suitable for those in unmodified vehicles or with less experience - If anything listed here is not a JeepClub event please check with the organisers to see if it is suitable before booking.

2004 Archive

  • Woodlands - Sunday 11th January 2004
Our first event of 2004 is at the ever-popular Woodlands site which is a firm favourite with many JeepClub members. Approximately 5 miles south of Brands Hatch, the site is set in 19 acres of dense woods, with views of beautiful countryside. The site comprises a circular scenic route around the perimeter suitable for beginners (white run), with nothing more challenging than a few muddy potholes. From several points around the perimeter, you can watch those testing their skills further on the red runs, designed for the more experienced off-roaders. If you're feeling more daring, you can try one of the black runs, suitable for those with modified vehicles, including "The Road to Hell" and "Wipeout Wall". Toilets and a burger bar is on-site or there is a pub just round the corner if you need to warm up for a while.

The site offers a unique mix of obstacles to satisfy drivers of every skill level from beginner to expert alike. Hill climbs and descents, marshes, streams and pools, and woodland expeditions with amazing sideslopes that will have you gripping your seat tightly. The day usually takes the form of instructor-led convoys around the 200 acre site, with the chance to stop and watch others before having a go yourself.

This site truly has something for everyone starting with gentle trails for newbies right through to severe challenges for the more experienced. Tong is home to the "Rubi-Tong Trail", which is a mini version of the famous rock-crawling Rubicon Trail in the USA, where it will be great to watch others attempt it, even if you don't fancy it youself, as well as trails with names like Earthquake Alley, Wipeout Wall and King Hole - not for the faint-hearted!

There are plenty of tracks around the site, but the bulk of the off-roading is to be had within the forest. Modifications to the site during 2003 have resulted in new forest runs and have made existing parts of the site more accessible. The site makes for a relaxing day's off-roading and an ideal place for a picnic with a difference, suitable for families and children.

Come on girls! This is the chance you've been waiting for. An opportunity to take advantage of a day's training at the special rate of £35, more than 50% off the usual rate. Training is not compulsory but advisable if you are new to offroading. Male drivers are welcome, but this event is all about giving the girls a chance to enjoy the driving. If you're a girl who's already got her own Jeep but have been worried about being outnumbered by the boys at our usual JeepClub events, then make sure you're booked for this one and spend the day with like-minded ladies with no pressure to do anything you're not happy with. As well as the training, there will also be a mini workshop teaching the basics of vehicle maintenance and how to change a wheel. Gloves will be available for those who don't want to get their hands dirty or break a nail!

  • Hogmoor Enclosure - Sunday 10th October 2004
We are pleased to announce a new MOD site, very close to Slab Common, a popular army training ground similar to Broxhead Common. We have been told that Hogmoor Enclosure is even better than Slab Common, and it certainly looked it when we visited recently. As with most MOD sites, this site is used to teach tank recovery techniques and abandoned tanks can occasionally be found around the site.
  • Broxhead Common - Sunday 14th November 2004
Broxhead Common is a large, sandy, MOD training site, with enough variation and challenge to satisfy drivers of all skill levels. This site is a firm favourite with JeepClub members, resulting in a large turnout. The site's sandy and open nature make it an excellent site for newbies to try out their vehicles (and their driving abilities) in safety. However, exploring a little deeper reveals plenty of interesting tracks, gulleys and muddy pools to challenge the more advanced off-roader.
  • Winch Training at Tuff Terrains - Saturday 20th November 2004
