JeepClub Events

JeepClub aim to cater for all levels from the  beginner or 'newbie' in a road standard Jeep to those of great experience with modified vehicles. For the needs of those new to Jeep ownership we can give professional advice, tuition and support. Our events are beginner friendly and even at our rare hardcore off-roading activities or competitions we try to always make provision for 'Newbies'. Although our expertise centres around late-model Jeep vehicles - Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Commander, we have members with models right back to the original WW2 MB and all are welcome to our events. In fact, you don't even need to own a Jeep to be a JeepClub Member. We promote a safe and responsible attitude to off-road driving and exert no pressure on our members to tackle obstacles they do not feel comfortable with. Help and advice is available at every step and the key to the concept is the informal atmosphere.  As a service to members we also list events from other clubs and organisations.  These may not be suitable for those in unmodified vehicles or with less experience - If anything listed here is not a JeepClub event please check with the organisers to see if it is suitable before booking.

2006 Archive

  • Broxhead Common - Sunday 19th February 2006
As we didn't visit Broxhead Common in 2005, we thought why wait until Autumn; let's go early this year instead. A popular favourite with JeepClub members, Broxhead Common is one of three MOD sites we have access to. Although possibly the smallest of the three, there is still enough variation and challenge to satisfy drivers of all skill levels. The site's sandy and open nature make it an excellent site for newbies to try out their vehicles (and their driving abilities) in safety. However, exploring a little deeper into the woods, reveals plenty of interesting tracks, gulleys and muddy pools to challenge the more advanced off-roader. Check out previous Broxhead event reports if you have not visited this site before.
  • Exmoor Trails - Saturday 18th March 2006
A new site for JeepClub is the beautiful Combe Sydenham Country Park within Exmoor, 8 miles west of Taunton and 15 minutes from the M5.
  • Whitecliff Quarry - Saturday 15th April 2006
How about spending part of your long Easter weekend offroading?
  • Wessex Safari 16 - Saturday 29th April 2006
Back again by popular demand for 2006, we are pleased to continue the tradition of the ever popular Wessex Safari. The Wessex Safari is an archaeological tour of the area around Stonehenge and is a perfect introduction to green-laning, ideal for those with new and showroom-fresh vehicles.
  • Woodlands Training - Sunday 30th April 2006
The first opportunity of 2006 to visit the ever-popular Woodlands site which is a firm favourite with many JeepClub members. Approximately 5 miles south of Brands Hatch, the site is set in 19 acres of dense woods, with views of beautiful countryside. The site comprises a circular scenic route around the perimeter suitable for beginners (white run), with nothing more challenging than a few muddy potholes. From several points around the perimeter, you can watch those testing their skills further on the red runs, designed for the more experienced off-roaders. If you're feeling more daring, you can try one of the black runs, suitable for those with modified vehicles, including "The Road to Hell" and "Wipeout Wall". Toilets are on-site and there is a pub just round the corner if you fancy something different from the usual sandwiches.
  • Carn Du Coastal Crawl III - Saturday 13th May 2006
A Family Day Out taking in the delights of the North Coast of Cornwall; this is a non-damaging event, suitable for all Jeeps on any tyres, and drivers of all standards.
  • Minstead Manor - Saturday 20th May 2006
Minstead Manor is a picturesque wooded site set in the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest, and is a favourite with lots of our members. There are plenty of tracks around the site, but the bulk of the off-roading is to be had within the forest. Modifications to the site over the years have resulted in new forest runs and have made existing parts of the site more accessible. The site makes for a relaxing day's off-roading and an ideal place for a picnic with a difference, suitable for families and children.
  • Wessex Safari 17 - Saturday 27th May 2006
We are pleased to continue the tradition of the ever popular Wessex Safari, with the second of these three events for 2006. The Wessex Safari is an archaeological tour of the area around Stonehenge and is a perfect introduction to green-laning, ideal for those with new and showroom-fresh vehicles.
  • Test Your Driving Skills - Saturday 17th June 2006
Following the success of previous years' "Test Your Driving Skills" events, Eugenio has kindly agreed to run another one for JeepClub members. Designed to test, and improve your off-road driving skill, the event is based on the principal that people learn from mistakes. TYDS is non-competitive but has some similarity with a conventional 4x4 trial.
  • Exmoor Trails - Saturday 1st July 2006
A return visit for JeepClub to the beautiful Combe Sydenham Country Park within Exmoor, 8 miles west of Taunton and 15 minutes from the M5.
  • Slindon Safari - Saturday 15th July 2006
JeepClub's second visit to Slindon, although some of you may have been there before, as the site is regularly open for pay'n'play days. It's a very sandy site with open areas for newbies, and axle twisters and a wooded area incorporating the black runs for those looking for something more interesting. There is something here for all levels of experience, and although the site can get fairly dry in the Summer, the darker areas within the woods never really dry out.
  • Ironstone - Sunday 20th August 2006
JeepClub's first visit to the Ironstone site, which is an old quarry with a good variety of terrain to suit most levels.

Looking for an excuse not to help with the Christmas shopping? Come offroading at our annual Christmas event at Tixover Quarry, which is a 70 acre disused stone quarry in the village of Tixover, near Stamford, on the southern edge of Lincoln. The site is suitable for all levels of experience, with open, non-damaging areas for newbies through to much more challenging areas for the experienced off-roader.
